Are you looking for Tyre Labelling for your vehicle?

Do you know it is mandatory to use only EU-labelled tyres in the UK?

The European Union passed a mandate in the year 2012 that all tyres should be labelled based on their fuel efficiency, wet grip performance and noise emission level to make car owners aware of tyre safety factors. On 1st May 2021, the EU made several changes in tyre labelling. If you are looking to buying new tyres Birmingham, you must learn about the updated tyre labelling rules to make an informed decision.

We, MS Auto Centre Ltd., explain the new tyre labelling rules in the section below. Read on to ensure you choose the right types of tyres.

Tyre Labelling Explained

Wet Grip

As per the new rule, the wet grip performance rating of car tyres will range from A to E. The “A” rating symbolises efficient braking performance and “E” rating indicates the worst braking response on wet roads.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel efficiency of car tyres will now be represented with labels ranging from A to E. The tyres having an “A” rating offer the highest fuel efficiency. However, those with “E” rating provide the least fuel efficiency.

Noise Emission

According to the new rule, the noise emission level will now be represented by an ABC rating. Tyres with a Class “A” rating are extremely noise-efficient. The ones with “B” rating emit more noise, and the tyres with a “C” noise rating are not permitted.

Additional Changes

  • Tyres customised for snow performance will be marked with a 3PMSF symbol.
  • EU labels for Nordic winter tyres will have a new ice stalagmite symbol.
  • The tyre labels will come with a QR code, which, when scanned, will offer detailed information and verification by directly linking to the EU database, EPREL.
